About Me

Working With Your Lawyer

About ten years ago, I was involved in a bad car accident. Another driver, who happened to be driving drunk at the time, smashed into the car I was driving. In addition to killing my daughter, the accident also left me paralyzed from the waist down. Although the case should have been cut and dry, the insurance company claimed that I was at fault. Fortunately, I worked with a lawyer who was able to fight my case for me. Without his help, I would still be paying off medical bills. I want to spread the word about the good that lawyers can do, which is why I created this website.

Key Legal Services To Anticipate From Skilled Personal Injury Lawyers

When you are hurt in an accident, you want to use every legal avenue available to you to get justice. However, you may not be entirely sure what those options are. You may not know how to make use of them even if you did know what they are.

Instead of trying to navigate a potentially complex legal process on your own, you can retain counsel to advise and act as an intermediary for you. You can expect a variety of important legal services from personal injury lawyers who represent accident victims like you.

Establishing What Happened

When you retain one of the personal injury lawyers in your area, you can get the help that you need in proving what really happened prior to, during, and after the accident. If you were to represent yourself in the legal process, you may find you're placing your word against that of the responsible party. Facts can get confused, and false allegations can take precedence over what really happened.

Personal injury lawyers, however, have the legal knowledge and reach to prove what happened in an accident and prove allegations against you false. Your own attorney can find evidence from the accident to explain what took place that caused your injuries. They can also show what actions were taken after the accident that might have put your safety or health at risk.

Moving Toward Financial Compensation

After personal injury lawyers can prove what happened during accidents, they then move toward pursuing the right kind of financial compensation for their clients. Your attorney may decide to file a lawsuit, for example. This lawsuit puts the responsible party and their insurer on notice that you intend to take the case to trial and ask the court for a financial judgment against the party's assets.

Alternatively, your attorney might pursue a settlement to keep your case out of the courtroom. They can compel the insurer and responsible party to settle the case with you and offer you a lump sum of money in exchange for dropping a potential lawsuit.

Personal injury lawyers offer a number of critical services to accident victims. They work quickly to establish what happened before, during, and after an accident. They also determine what course of action to take to pursue the right kind of compensation for clients. They may file a lawsuit or pursue a settlement.
